This is one of our favorite trout boxes we’ve sent to date! We managed to get our hands on 14 seriously buggy trout patterns that will do some real damage this spring. Hi Itsy The fly rod that you have is just fine for trout,..If bait , is not legal, that means that you must use artificial lures, such as flies , or spnirens,.in which case, barbless hooks are, probably, manditory,..So, what you need to do, is get a copy of the state fishing reglations, which are free, perhaps available online check the rules, for the waters involved,..If you are going to fish a lake, then you might want spinning gear,..Check at a local sporting goods store, for more detailed info, with regards to good flies or lures,..Also, barbs can be broken off of hooks, by just mashing them down with a pair of pliers,..Good fishing,..
