What’s in the Box: September 2019

Fall is finally here! As temperatures drop across the nation, almost all of our fly fishing target species are starting to get active again as the heat of the summer fades. Trout are starting to come out of deeper water to feed in the riffles and shallows, looking up for the first hatches of the season. Our warm-water fish are starting to get active while fattening up for the winter, and the Fall run of fish is heating up all along the East Coast, its a great time to be a fly angler!

Warmwater

Its feeding season for almost every warm water fish as they pack on the pounds getting up to their winter weights. You’ll find smallmouth chasing baitfish around the shallows or rivers and lakes, sometimes blitzing on them like Stripers. Either way, its time to break out the 8 weight and get after your big bass of the Fall.

This month’s saltwater box is packed with baitfish patterns ready to be crushed by a hungry saltwater fish. Personally, we’ll be throwing these into as many False Albacore blitzes as we can as they make their way down the coast!
