What’s in the Box: February 2020

This month our kits are all about optimism and getting you on fish this season. Late February is always a time of quiet optimism about the coming months and what they hold. All around the country, bug life and fish are beginning to stir and hatch, and we’re here to make sure you have what you need to fool them. From our 3 season mix of streamers, dries, and nymphs for our trouty subscribers, the sweet collection of one of our favorite saltwater baitfish patterns, or our early season warm water select flies, the February 2020 box is going to light up your leap year!

Trout

This month’s trout selection is all about cautious optimism. With the earliest hatches of the year beginning to take flight, we find ourselves pining for the trout stream more and more every day. In your latest Postfly Trout Box we blended together our favorite late winter/early spring dries, nymphs and streamers into a fly selection that promises to entice an eat from even the wariest trout!

Warm-Water

Warm water weather is finally beginning to show its face as we close out the last full month of winter, and our February kit is here to help you fool the first hungry bass, pike, and carp that are beginning to wake up and put on the feedbags for the spawn.

Saltwater

We seem to ask ourselves daily when the Stripers are going to get back up here to the waters of the Merrimac just up the road from us. But regardless of the saltwater fish, you’re pursuing this selection of lightly weighted baitfish will definitely be the first flies we tie on this season. All you have to do is match the best color-way to the bait that’s swimming in your shallows, and start casting!

Salmon & Steelhead

As the Spring season gets closer and closer, winter and spring run steelhead are entering river systems from the wild Steelhead of the West Coast to their Great Lakes cousins. Once steelhead enter the river, they can be famously tight-lipped but have no fear, our February 2020 collection of flies is ready to pry those jaws open and rope your big chrome-y prize of the new year. From the flowy Spey Purple & Blue to the ever productive Egg Larva, you’re going to want to tie one of these on the moment you open your Postfly Box!

Add a Postfly Steelhead and Salmon box to your subscription and never run out of flies this season.
