Could This Patagonia Ale Be Your Favorite New Beer?

Patagonia Provisions is Yvon Chouinard’s vehicle for creating a positive change in the food industry. It appears that the company has decided to take a step into the beverage industry with their Long Root Ale, brewed by Hopworks Urban Brewery in Portland Oregon. The brew is unique in that it is the first to be made with Kernza, a more sustainable and long-rooted grain. Along with being heartier and easier to grow, Kernza requires less water than traditional wheat and removes more carbon from the atmosphere. Whether or not these methods catch on throughout the micro-brewing community is yet to be determined, but we’re pretty keen on trying a pint for ourselves. Cheers to you, Yvon.
