So, what’s the deal with all of these anglers running skiffs around Houston saving people? Well, first & foremost they are awesome people, but they’re also referred to as the “Cajun Navy.”

The Cajun Navy first unofficially assembled in response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The ragtag group of good Samaritans consists mostly of anglers and duck hunters from southern Louisiana. In the wake of a disaster, these outdoorsmen & women transform their shallow water skiffs from leisure-crafts to rescue boats. Check out this feature video on these Cajun heroes below, and bring some of their selflessnesses back to your community.
