4 Resolutions to Make 2019 Your Year of Fly Fishing

2019 is only a week old and our minds are already back on the water and how to maximize the most of the remaining 358 potential fishing days. Make this year the one that you resolve to fish, learn, share and connect more with fly fishing.

Fish More

Make fishing more a priority for 2019. It doesn’t matter if that is stopping by a bass pond on lunch break or taking a week-long fly fishing adventure, do your best to get on the water.  For myself, I am committing to fishing at least once a week (conditions permitting) and trying to catch a minimum of one fish a month. This may seem like easy work, but you’ll be surprised how much you can improve simply by committing to fishing regularly and putting in the time on the water.

Learn More

Commit to spending time learning more about different aspects of fly fishing. Start researching that nymphing technique you want to learn and make it happen.  Personally, I find the early winter season to be the best time to start studying up on new techniques and styles of fishing that I can implement come opening day. For some, this may come from binge-watching how-to YouTube videos (we recommend subscribing to our YouTube channel) or, for others, taking a fly fishing class at your local fly shop. Let 2019 be the year you finally learn that new skill you’ve been putting off.

Share More

Share the sport of fly fishing with the world this year. Take someone who has never fly fished before out for the first time whether they are your family member, significant other or someone you met at a fly fishing event, share the addiction and you may just find your next fly fishing buddy.

Connect More

Connect with your local fly fishing community and fly fishing people all over the world. Travel to a new fishing location, come visit us at a fly fishing show, join a fly fishing Facebook group or attend fishing events in your area. Joining and connecting with a fly fishing community is the best way to push your fishing skills farther and more importantly, you’ll have a bunch of people to brag about that big fish you landed with.
