6 Ways to Upgrade Your Kit This Holiday Season

Winter is here and the holiday season is in full swing! What better time than now to start upgrading your fishing kit? Toss that old, busted gear aside, check out these tips and add some fresh gear to your holiday wishlist.

Be one with the Troutelope

There are few things better than an ugly sweater this time of year. Luckily for the world, Postfly is helping you bring your A-game to your next socially distanced holiday gathering with the Premium Merry Fishmas Fleece Ugly Sweater. This year’s edition is softer, cozier and uglier (in a good way) than ever. Add it to your list before it’s too late.

Freshen up your waders

With cold water and even colder air temperatures, bomber waders are a must this time of year. Patagonia’s new women’s Swiftcurrent Waders and men’s Swiftcurrent Expedition Zip-Front Waders are top notch options. The Swiftcurrent lineup is burly without the bulk. While both versions are made with recycled fabrics, the women’s is especially wonderful thanks to a drop seat for quick and easy bathroom breaks; and the men’s has a quick suspender release system to switch up the height. Look good and feel good. You deserve it.

Invest in new tools

There are a few tools every fishing pack should have and on the top of that list are a good set of nippers and pliers. Gerber’s FreeHander nippers are sharp and perfectly sized while their Magniplier takes fishing pliers to the next level, making a tool that is ergonomic and unstoppable. Be prepared on the water by investing in tools that equip you to catch more fish.

Fill your fly box

If you’re here, you likely know Postfly has some of the best monthly fly fishing subscriptions on the market. While the Guide Series Subscription box comes with all the extra gear goodies, it also comes with double the flies. So, if you’re looking to fill your fly box faster – and keep it filled – upgrade to the Guide Series.

Layer up

It’s getting cold out there, folks. Thankfully, there are some great companies out there making the layers we need to stay warm. Upgrade your kit to include base layers (like the extra cozy options from Ridge Merino), a puffy down jacket (like my current favorite from Simms, the Exstream Jacket which features quick-drying PrimaLoft insulation), and a wading jacket (like the bomber Patagonia River Salt Jacket for those blowing snow days).

Stay healthy

Safety first, y’all. Whether from the sun, the cold, or the world, upgrade your kit with some safety-minded gear. Hit up the Postfly shop and snag a fresh Artist Series Bandana. It’s multi-functional: shade from sun, reprieve for your running nose and a snazzy face covering.
